Government Through MoE Empowers Primary Headteachers.
Ahead of the reopening scheduled for January 8, public primary school headteachers nationwide are set to undergo significant shifts in their responsibilities. They will now assume control of Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centers previously managed by counties, while concurrently retaining leadership roles in junior schools. This restructuring expands their sphere of influence in managing basic education.
The prospect of primary school head teachers taking charge of comprehensive schools brings forth a myriad of possibilities and challenges. It presents an opportunity for these educators to demonstrate their leadership capabilities while also adapting to the unique dynamics of comprehensive education. Collaboration with existing staff, students, and parents will be crucial in ensuring a smooth and successful transition.
This reorganization is poised to yield several advantages. It is expected to foster enhanced coordination and communication between ECDE centers and junior schools, facilitating a smoother transition for young learners progressing from early childhood to primary education. Moreover, it offers an opportunity for more coherent planning and execution of educational initiatives, ensuring a unified and integrated approach to basic education within the public schooling system.
These means that the school heads will have a reason to smile as they will be the overall heads of the comprehensive school that will be accompanied by heavy allowances. Follow teachers service commission website: http://www.tsc.go.ke
Although due to collisions the council’s attention has been drawn to various reports in the local dialogues alluding to the transfer of the management of pre-primary schools from the county government to the National Government.
” Whereas the council, supports reforms in the education sector, it is critical to note that the management of pre-primary school remains an exclusive function of the County Governments. We are cognizant of the recommendations of the presidential working party on education reforms however the implementation of the same should be strictly undertaken in accordance with the provisions of Article 87 of the constitution that sets the parameters for the transfers of functions and powers between the two levels of government,” the report reads.
As the reopening date nears, stakeholders in education will closely monitor the implementation of this revised structure and its potential impact on the quality and efficacy of basic education nationally.
