End of the long holiday comes to an end today as students are preparing to report to school this week, some students expected to report starting tomorrow. The government is sending a strong danger to parents, inorder to take care as the travel back to school.

Consequently, learners traveling back to school have been advised to observe road safety to avert endangering their lives and breaking traffic rules and regulations.
This came as the traffic enforcers mounted campaigns to weed out un-roadworthy motor vehicles mostly public service vehicles (PSV) on the country’s roads to ensure safety ahead of school re-opening and others returning to work after the long holidays.
This will effect positively the life of parents as they will get peace of mind as their children report tomorrow to different schools.
According to Sossiot Police Station Base Inspector Patrick Leweri, unsuspecting school-going children fall prey to careless motorists who carry excess passengers thus risking their lives.
“Be warned that the law would not spare anyone found flouting traffic regulations. Drivers or passengers found in over-loaded vehicles will be arrested and charged” Leweri warned.
Speaking to the press in his office, Leweri disclosed that they have embarked an operation to weed out motor vehicles in poor conditions while at the same time educating the public on road safety measures.
Several commuters were left stranded yesterday when a multi- agency team comprising of National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and Traffic police staged an operation along Kericho-Kisumu and Kericho -Sondu highways.
Leweri advised parents and teachers to play a key role on the teaching of their children on road safety to avert accidents saying ‘usalama barabarani’ needed a concerted effort across board.
