Why KCSE again after KCPE Examination?
A sample of school has stand to represent other schools in the whole country due to lack of satisfication experienced from the results released.
The aftermath of the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) release has triggered widespread discontent, especially at Ibacho High School in Masaba South. Parents, teachers, and students took to the streets, alleging irregularities in the marking process and demanding a review of the results.
Protesters argue that this year’s candidates exhibited exceptional academic prowess, and the released results do not accurately reflect their capabilities. Students expressed disappointment, emphasising their past achievements as bright scholars. “We expected to achieve excellent results; we want our results,” they passionately asserted during the protest.
The focus of their dissatisfaction lies in what they perceive as implausible outcomes. Specifically, they challenge the credibility of a scenario where a student scores a D in every subject, with an astonishing 136 out of 138 students receiving a D in mathematics. The incredulous students questioned the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) about the feasibility of such outcomes, highlighting the statistical improbabilities.
Parents, echoing their children’s concerns, have called upon KNEC to conduct a thorough review or remark on the contested results. The disappointment among parents is Paramount as the expectations turns to be more worse.
With one expressing, “We were really discouraged as parents outside when we heard our students did not perform well.” The demand for a comprehensive investigation into the alleged irregularities serves as a testament to the collective dissatisfaction and the pursuit of fair and accurate assessment outcomes for the students.
In summary, correct assessment we will be done to students to show their hard working as they yean to join colleges and universities come September this year.
