Lementing Parents!
Today being the first day of the start of admission for form ones as announced earlier by CS Machogu, KCPE 2023 students are seen all over in different schools in the country.
There are several students nationwide who took the KCPE exam last year. It’s anticipated that the majority of them will enroll at various institutions this year. Moreover, some parents have been putting in extra effort to ensure that their children have completed all schoolwork prior to today’s report card.
According to the source, new details have just emerged about the cost of school uniforms in parts of the country ahead of Form 1 students reporting today. As per the latest updates shared, it has been revealed that some parents have been forced to pay more for school uniforms in some shops or even at school. For instance, a parent from Kisii County whose name has not been mentioned has confirmed that the school has asked him to pay Ksh 17,000 for school uniforms. He has noted that the same uniform can be bought elsewhere, not in school, for less than kshs 10,000.
This shows that some schools are taking advantage of parents and exploiting them. I quote his statement from the source: “I have been told to buy my daughter’s uniform from a particular shop in Kisii town or school. The uniform is going for Sh17,000, but if I buy the same from the market in Nyamira or Nairobi, it is less than Sh10,000,” said a parent.
These are bad news for parents, as some schools have started hiking the price of school uniforms. Further, the ministry of education should issue a new statement and stop some principals who are taking advantage.
