He promised that it will be a tough time for the terrorist since he ordered for the following measures to be taken prior the start of the year. This will enable to have a smooth and a conducive environment for learning in areas which are mostly affected like the north eastern parts and some parts of Mombasa like Lamu areas.
Going by his speech to prevent the return of the bandits to their hideouts, which include hills, caves and forests, Interior Coordination Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki ordered the fencing of these sites.
“Bandits have been flushed from most of their hideouts that include escarpments, hills and gorges. We have to ensure the criminals don’t regroup and return to the hideouts. To achieve this, the areas will be fenced and security agents permanently deployed there,” Kindiki said.
Together with the CS Education, Machogu, he promised to support the education sector since this terrorism seriously has affected learning in past years on those areas. More schools lacking teachers and learners go home unattended. It has became a trend but now they will curb to enhance competitive and adequate learning progress taking place effectively.
The suppression of banditry in the region is seen as a crucial step that will pave the way for the comprehensive development of the area.The CS said that incidents of banditry and its debilitating effects on the people of the Northern Rift Valley Region have been contained 70%.
“The suppression of bandit terror will give way to opening up of the region through social amenities, economic infrastructure and durable peace-building programs spearheaded by the Government but involving non-governmental stakeholders,” said Kindiki in a statement on X.
Following through the government’s most achievements under security is in the fight against banditry remarked on boxing day, the CS for Interior, Kithure Kindiki, said that 2024 will be a decisive year as the government aims to destroy political, cultural, and commercial networks in banditry.
“The incidents of banditry and its debilitating effects on the people of the Northern Rift Valley Region have been contained 70%.Building on the lessons so far, the Government aims at eradicating the menace of banditry and destroying its political, cultural and commercial networks. 2024 is a decisive year,” said Kindiki.

“I want to assure you all parents; your children are safe and their studies will not be interrupted by bandits. All schools will be under 24-hour guarded security by our specialised officers and the National Police Reservists (NPRs),” Interior CS Kithure Kindiki said.
