Highlights:Challenges Encountered Before Release 2023 KCSE.
1. Why is KNEC reluctant about the release of examination ahead of Christmas?
Following the marking of the 2023 KCSE examination that took place at different centers, including Starehe Girls Centre, Kiambu High School, Machakos Girls, and more. Originally scheduled from November 27 to December 11, 2023, the marking got extended by two days, affecting the planned results release between December 16 and 22, 2023. Consequently, Knec has pushed the announcement of the results to the dates they will say by themselves from the trusted sources of news.
Another reason due to issues faced in transmitting KCPE results, the KCSE results won’t be accessible through SMS. Instead, they will be available through the Kenya Education Management Information System (KEMIS) portal introduced by CS Machogu. Parents and candidates will need to visit the website, inputting KCSE names and index numbers to get the results. Manning the process needs more time as before.
2. What is inside the kenyan’s heart?
- Kenyans said that the delay in the release of KCSE results would affect their Christmas mood, urging KNEC to announce the date.
- A section of critics welcomed the delay, stating that the ministry would effectively deal with errors that may occur, as witnessed in the KCPE results.
- Their concerns arose after KNEC welcomed guests from foreign states to observe the processing of the examinations.
3. How Kenyans are thinking about guest visiting “Mtihani House”?
Most Kenyans have felt there is something which is not going good as they delay releasing exams yet inviting foreigners. They raised concerns after KNEC welcomed guests from foreign examination boards on December 19 to observe the processing of the results.
“Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) CEO, Dr. David Njengere, welcomes guests from foreign examination boards who are in Kenya this week to observe the processing of the 2023 KCSE examination. KNEC has received guests from Ghana, South Africa, Tanzania, South Sudan, Zambia, and Eswatini who are members of the Association for Educational Assessment in Africa (AEAA),” said KNEC.
4. Why are Kenyans concerned about delay?
The class of 2019 yet to graduate have faced strong challenges since they joined form one for instance, in the four years preceding the outbreak of the coronavirus, wearing mask while doing thier studies and even others were forced to study from home.
“A form one studying from home without even knowing how to define new terminologies in high school, dear parents it was headache and challenging,” parents’ remark.
If the results were to be unveiled a few days before the Christmas celebration as it was announced before. This would allowed parents enough time to prepare for the day and gift their children accordingly. However, after the education calendar was disrupted by the virus, the ministry released the results depending on the times the examinations were held.
