The government through the ministry of education that is under the leadership of Ezekiel Machogu announced that both primary and secondary schools will be reopened for the first term of this year on 8th January and the closure will be in April 5th 2024.
According to the reliable source we have with us from the Daily Nation newspaper dated today Thursday 4th January 2024, good news have rocked the primary and secondary school heads as the government through the ministry of Treasury has disbursed funds for term one activities.
Following the information reaching our desk this morning, the treasury has released ksh31.34 billion that will make the teaching and learning process effective. The money has been eagerly waited for as Kenyans are departing from a long December holiday which hitted strongly on the pockets of parents.

Of this, the free primary education programme has received sh 4.74 billion, junior secondary sh 7.6 billion while free secondary education programme will receive ksh 16.2 billion for the three levels of education inorder to run the set programmes. On the other side, Knec has been awarded sh 2.8 billion for school examination and invigilation.

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party leader Raila Odinga remarked that the failure by the administration to disburse education funding as the results of “corruption, deliberate and harmful political choices.”
” I instruct our members of Parliament and county assemblies to prioritize basic and higher education spending. Our legislators must embark on active steps to force the government to release public education funding, both at the primary and secondary levels before schools resume. Money must reach schools ahead of Monday.”
” We appeal to religious leaders and civil society organizations to take up the cause of our children, call out Kenya Kwanza administration and force it to fund the future by paying school fees early,” he termed.
In conclusion, this is a good move from the government as the teaching and learning process for this term will kick off starting next week.
