Educational Scholarships Irregularities in President Ruto’s Government.
President William Ruto has found himself at cross roads again after the Auditor General, Nancy Gathungu exposed yet another scandal in one of his key Ministries and that is the Ministry of Education.
This has put the Kenya Kwanza government again on the wrong spot. A publication by the People Daily Newspaper on Friday, revealed that a scandal happened through scholarships that were awarded in primary schools.
Following the news reaching our desk they stated that there are a number of anomalies that were recorded. Nancy Gathungu noted that under state department of education, the report on kenya Primary education equity reveals a number of key decisions such as the issuance of stale cheques, undocumented disbursement of s1.67 billion shillings and unsupported expenditure amounting to 1.7 billion shillings.
From trusted sources of information the Auditor General revealed that the scandal might have had a negative impact on many learners and she quoted that at least learners in 13 sub counties might have felt the heat of that scandal.
” The queries surrounding scholarship disbursements is in the report to grants and transfers as well as scholarships funding for learners in 13 sub-counties,” Gathugu Lamented in the report dated 30th June, 2023 year ending bugdet.
The revelation comes just a day after President William Ruto welcomed the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission ( EACC) decision of prosecuting and investigating corruption related cases. This means that there are people who will find it very rough when the investigations commence. There are people who will have to face the action for either involving themselves directly or in directly in the scandal.
Moreover the cases are mainly facing former government officials who are expected to answer the raised charges. The President is fixing his government and he had stated earlier on that everybody will have to carry his or her own cross.
